At the invitation of the trade fair management, the eight presidents of the football winegrowing nations met on 17 March 2018 in Düsseldorf in the Messe-Centrum for talks. It was decided to initiate concrete plans for the establishment of a European association of football winegrowers' associations. WEINELF President Robert Lönarz was entrusted with further coordination. The university in Geisenheim was chosen as a possible location for the club. The new association could be founded in Slovenia within the framework of VINOEURO 2018 if it was successfully developed.
