Wine, Friendship and Football: UENFW Discusses Its Future in Paris

Europe’s national winemakers’ football teams are looking to strengthen their cooperation. At their meeting in Paris, UENFW member countries will discuss the federation’s future direction, drawing on the experiences of VINOEURO 2026 in Italy and proposals submitted by the national teams.

The agenda also includes membership talks with Spain and Croatia, both of which will be represented by delegations. With Italy, Spain and France taking part, some of Europe’s great wine and football nations will come together—a welcome expression of the unifying power of sport and culture, and of European friendship in action.

Many national contributions share a desire to give wine culture and personal encounters a stronger place in the programme while maintaining fair, competitive amateur football. Discussions will address common event standards, clear responsibilities and reliable funding.

The development of competition formats and a European charity wine gala are also on the agenda. The meeting aims to produce a practical work plan that reflects the differing capacities of the participating countries. At its heart are the people behind the wines and the friendships that grow across borders, both on and off the football pitch.
